Greetings from Ghana!

We have started our 7th Annual Faith Promise Missions Conference. On Sunday all six of the churches came together in Techiman for the kickoff for the conference. Our theme for this years conference is "Come join the Reapers". The pastors had planned this great event with one main thrust for this year to send one of our men back to his home country. We are planning on sending Pastor Joseph Gueh and family back to Liberia. There is finally peace in Liberia and Joe feels the call of God to return to his country.

On Sunday we sent out vehicles to all the outreach ministries and conveyed the adults to the Techiman Church. We had over 550 people in attendance. We scheduled two service back to back with no evening services. The service was simply wonderful. There were three special numbers, trumpet and piano duet, and two choir numbers (one from church choir and one from Pastoral team). The preacher for the first service was Pastor Joe Gueh. The Lord laid on this heart a wonderful message that went out powerfully, and the Holy Spirit moved on the hearts of the people. There was a lot of pressure on Pastor Joe because his wife was sick with malaria. Felicia is nine months pregnant. She was lying at their home in Krobo barely able to move because of the malaria. Felicia said to Joe "Go and preach, I will be fine." I know that this was laying heavily on Pastor Joe as came to preach. God used Pastor Joe's message to move people, after he finished preaching over twenty people came forward for salvation. (I didn't get a complete report of how many prayed to receive Christ but I know of at least ten.)

The second service Pastor Stephen Sarfo Adu was our preacher. His message also came with great power, and twelve men came forward to surrender their lives for God's work. There were also some women who came forward to go to the Women's Bible School. We praise the Lord for what He did this day.

We will be having evening services on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday with the conference coming to an end this coming Sunday. Please pray that our people would have more faith in their promises.

Here are some pictures of the services:

On Wednesday of last week a faithful member of the Ahensau church went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly. Wendall Quay was a deacon, youth leader, visitation team member, and encourager to many people in the church. Wendall's home going has left a huge hole in the church. Pastor Gyamfi and the church were in shock at this news along with Calvary pastoral staff. Please pray for Na Quay and her daughter as they have been hit with a hard blow. The funeral has been set for October 27th. We want this to be a time of sharing the Gospel to the lost souls of both families and the community.

News from Tuobodom:
Last Sunday while the adults went to Techiman for the service, Deacon Osie, Rebecca and Dona stayed behind to run the children's ministry. She knew that this would be long day for the children. I was praying for them as they were working with the children. They had 78 children in attendance at the church. We had setup the data projector and showed the Jesus film in Twi. This helped to keep the children's minds occupied and not thinking of the time. You must remember these children arrived at the church at 9am and services ran until 2:30pm; so it was a long day. Dona had gotten up very early (4am) to make banana cake for them, knowing that many of them would be hungry before their parents returned from Techiman.

In the Techiman service, two men from Adutwie and one man from Tuobodom came forward to surrender to full-time service. I know of two more men from Adutwie who said they would like to go to Twi Bible School. Pray with us here. We are seriously planning on opening the Twi Bible school in 2008. We now have about 20 men who said they would attend Twi school.

Peterson family:
We have some house guest staying with us for a few months. Pastor Samuel Appiah is building a house next to the Techiman church land. He has the shell up and now is trying to finish rest of the work on the inside of house. They were in a house but the landlord asked them to leave because their contract was expiring. The landlord wanted to rent out the house to one of the banks in town, so Pastor Samuel had to move. He was going to move into his house but the house is not close enough for him and his family to live there. We offered for them to stay with us while he has more work done on the house. Finances are now becoming a problem as his money has run out for now. He is hoping to get the house to a point were they can more in, but it may take a few months. Then they will finish the house a little bit at a time.

We are all doing fine. We have no health issues report.

Prayer requests:
    1) Just as we move to our new house, our deacon's house wall collapsed. It was by the grace of God that no one was hurt. We had to help him rebuild the walls to his house. It cost us $1300 to help. Deacon is a faithful man but has very little money (a tailor). I had some compassion on his blight so we jumped in to help, but I really didn't have the financial strength to do it. So, we have been very tight financially since July. If you would like to help Deacon Adakwa please send a gift to our account on his behalf.. Deacon Adakwa is very faithful in his service to his God and our church. If you could help it would greatly appreciated. The walls to his house will not fall down again as we have used cement blocks and put in a footing that is three feet below the surface of the ground.

    2) Pray for our Faith Promise Mission conference and that our people would be faithful to their promises.

    3) Pray for our outreach ministry in Adutwie. We have seen much growth in our people there.

In His Service
Jim, Dona, Rebecca, and Julia Peterson
