Dear Friends,
Greetings from Ghana. We are all doing well as a family and as a church. Today we had a special Sweetheart Sunday and had 25 married couples stay after the main service for a special instruction on how to: Remain "ONE" and remain "HAPPY." Please pray for a change in the way our people here in Ghana view marriage. Their culture requires that they remain faithful to family and not to their mate, and if you don't leave you can not cleave.
Last week I was in Togo for a week long Faith Promise Seminar. We had 30 pastors and 6 days of wonderful preaching and sweet fellowship. Pray for these pastors as they try to introduce Faith Promise giving to their people.
I also have an urgent prayer request for our missionary, Pastor Joe Gueh. He flew from Ghana to Liberia 3 weeks ago and has recently found housing for his family in Monrovia, but the rent was much higher than we had expected. He had budgeted for $75 per month. When he arrived, he was shocked to have to pay $150 per month with a one year advance on the rent. Because of the one year advance requirement to secure the housing, we struggled to send him the money to secure this house because of its ideal location and the possibility to use the main hall for the beginning of the church.
Now we need to send his wife and children from Ghana over to Liberia and the tickets for his wife and children are $1550. We also need to send their belongings by truck for an additional $500. Of this remaining $2,050, we have only $350 in hand. We need to raise $1,700 this week. Please pray for the Lord's will in this urgent missionary endeavor.
On Friday, Samantha will go to the orthodontist / oral surgeon in Accra. She has 2 adult teeth that should have come in long time ago but are still up in the gums. She will go on Friday for what is called an "exposure and bracket" procedure. They will need to make an opening in the gums and then place some kind of bracket in the opening. After about one month, she will go back, and braces will then be put on and attached to these brackets. The brackets are to pull down the teeth in the proper place. On Friday, she will go for the exposure and bracket procedure. Pray that all goes well and that they can do both sides of her mouth. If not, we have to go back again in 2 weeks for them to finish. If it were just across town, it wouldn't be so bad, but it is an 7-8 hour drive.
Please remember my family in prayer as I leave them here in Ghana and go to Australia for two weeks to preach in two missions conferences. This will be my first time to visit Australia. Please pray that God would allow me to be a great blessing to the churches I will speak in.
