Hello family and friends – just wanted to give an update of my year and let you know what’s been going on here. As some of you know, I have prayed to the Lord at the end of last year that 2006 might be a special year with new opportunities for me. I had no idea what He had in mind!
In February, I had my yearly privilege of going back to my “second home” in Songtan, Korea where the Word of Life Korea / SYME is. I get the opportunity to promote the Word of Life Bible Institute campuses (New York, Florida and Canada) to the students there in Korea at our discipleship training school / English language institute where I taught for three years. It’s always a great time meeting the prospective students as well as catching up with the staff there who are my dear friends, as well as seeing “old” students who take time to come visit with me. I had the chance to go back this past October as well as to get the students ready who want to come in January.
In April I had the unique opportunity to go to Burkina Faso and Ghana Africa to minister to children with Operation Christmas Child (a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse). That was as incredible time of lessons learned – mostly, that we plan our ways but God directs our steps. We had planned on handing out the gift boxes but God has other opportunities for us – visiting orphanages, encouraging American workers in remote areas and handing out school supplies that we brought to public schools.
In July, I had another first-time experience of going to the Czech Republic with my niece, Deanne. We helped the Word of Life Czech Republic’s English camp. I was involved with training of the summer staff to teach English to the campers. Then I stayed for the first week of camp to observe the teachers and give help where I could. It was a great time to see another ministry under Word of Life and get reacquainted with the staff there as I hadn’t seen them for a long time.
In September, we had our incoming class of the 2006-07 school year arrive. I have about 40 international students from 13 different countries represented here on the New York and Florida campuses. What a blessing they are to the student body, staff and especially to me. It’s been so fun getting to know them.
I would ask you to pray for them as they continue to adjust to the cold weather here in the Northeast USA, to the food, to studying in English and also to the American culture. We keep the students pretty busy here at Word of Life Bible Institute and the international students can feel overwhelmed at times. So, I ask you to pray for them. Another prayer request is that we’re hoping for another 10 international students to start in January – they need prayer for finances and US visas. They are tough to get these days. But we are sooo excited for them to come!
Thank you for being interested in my life and ministry here with Word of Life. I am still content to be doing what I’m doing, but try to be open if God has any other plans for me. I am so thankful to Him for giving me such incredible opportunities here in 2006, and hope He will again use me in 2007. Than you for continuing to support me through prayer and financial gifts so that I follow the Lord’s steps in my life.
Have a Merry Christmas and a wonderful time with family and friends as we remember the birth of the Lord Jesus.
Love to all,
Wendy Williamson
