Hi everyone – just wanted to send an update of what’s going on with me these days. Hope you are doing well!
South Korea/Taiwan Trip
I went to Korea and Taiwan at the end of March and first 10 days of June. I went to SYME Korea where I promoted and taught about Word of Life Bible Institute. Lord willing, we will have about 20 Koreans and 4 Japanese at the Bible Institute this coming September. I’m so excited about that. I also had a great time with the staff in Korea. I was able to meet Yea-one who is Josef Huh’s new wife. She is a great girl and I know will be a wonderful helper and ministry partner to Josef. I’m so happy for them both!
I also got to see Baby Hannah who is about one year old now. She is the daughter of Samuel and Jinah Song who are my good friends. Of course, Samuel and Jinah know that I’m only interested in Hannah now and they are to take a backseat to her! Ha ha! She’s so cute and I was so happy to see her. Here is her picture … isn’t she a doll?
Next I went to Taiwan to visit Chris and Beth Steiner, Jason Carson, as well as Kim, who I went to graduate school with. The Steiners and Jason will be starting the work in Taiwan for Word of Life after they finish language school. Oh my goodness – I can’t imagine learning the Chinese language! They need a lot of prayer! Here is a picture of Kim and I on her “scooter” that she gets around her city on. I was singing “Nearer my God to Thee” every time I got on the back! It was a lot of fun though.
Bible Institute Happenings
I came back to the Bible Institute ready to hit the paperwork that needs to happen for the students coming in September but had a few activities going on as well. We had our spring quarter International Student Fellowship meeting with the students leading most of the meeting. It’s always so fun to see how their English ability has improved from last September to now. They can even lead part of a meeting totally in English now. We had singing, games, testimonies, missionary presentation from a family from the Ukraine going to Bulgaria and finally prayer time. It was such a great night to encourage each other in the Lord! These are girls from Canada, France, Japan, Aruba and the Bahamas.
English Tutoring
I have been working with this couple from the Ukraine who are Word of Life missionaries to Bulgaria. They have come with their son to raise support to go back to Bulgaria but unfortunately, they don’t speak much English (they speak four other languages though!) so I’ve been helping them three days a week learn English. They are the nicest couple and it’s been my pleasure to get to know them. They will be here through the summer. Please pray for our English lessons.
Ministry in Japan for 5 weeks – you can be involved
The ministry of SYME Japan has just started this past week! We are so excited about it. It’s been in the planning for about a year and it’s finally here. The Japanese staff has put so much work into the preparations and they opened the doors to 9 Japanese students and about 10 Koreans students who have come to study Bible and English in this unique ministry. I have been asked to come for the last week of May (yes, this month!) and the month of June to help while one of the staff comes to the States to go through Word of Life’s Missionary-in-Training program to be considered a full-time WOL missionary. I will be taking her place taking care of the guest teachers and probably teaching. I need about $1200 for the airfare as well as about $1000 for in-country expenses (travel to/from airport) as well as room and board. The Lord has already provided almost all the money for the airfare but just need the rest. If that were something you’d like to be involved in, please send your check to Word of Life, PO Box 600, Schroon Lake, NY 12860 and mark it for Wendy Williamson, Launch Acct #0L0424. Thank you so much to those of you who have regularly sent in gifts for my ministry. I appreciate it so much!
If you’d like read more about what’s going on with me, you can check out my blog at www .wendy0117.multiply.com I will try to keep it updated! Thanks so much for your friendship! Please email and let me know how you’re doing!
With thanks,
Wendy Williamson |
