“A Bump in the Road”
That’s what Wayne’s father used to say when some unexpected event came along that changed plans. And it does remind us to look further down the road and keep our eyes on God.
Thank you so much for your prayers on Thursday and the days since our daughter Monica had her biopsy; we can see God giving strength and guidance. The surgeon decided the most important task was to find out if the lumps were cancerous or not, so he took a core needle biopsy and gave us immediate results. It is cancer and since last week she has had an appointment with the surgeon and with an oncologist. The oncologist’s office is now making appointments for her MRI and CAT scan as well as with Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. We are thankful that there is such a good cancer center relatively near us.
Monica’s school year ends June 12 (she’s a second-grade teacher) so she hopes to start treatment shortly after that, which seems reasonable since her appointment with Dana-Farber will probably be the first week of June. But the doctor is concerned that she not delay too long.
We value your prayers during this difficult time. We don’t understand why this is happening, but it is interesting that it happened just as we were preparing to buy our tickets but before we had paid. Many have mentioned that it is so good that we are in the States at this time. I plan to keep you informed along the way of this new adventure so you can pray specifically for all of us.
Pray for Wesley (12, he will turn 13 on July 20) that he will have a good summer even though his mom will have good days and bad days. We’re hoping he can spend time with friends doing fun things when Monica needs to rest.
Pray for all those who are very disappointed that we are not in Ivory Coast right now. The people we were going to help at the school (ICA) have gone back to Plan A (what they were planning to do before we knew about the opportunity); the church association’s theological training workbooks (the project we plan to do) will need to wait a bit longer.
Pray for our wisdom regarding what we should do during this temporary delay. May it be a time of growth and service; may we all learn valuable lessons.
None of this took God by surprise! We know that CONGODTROL (God is in control)!
Bumping along,
Wayne & Melody
We value your prayers! |
